10 more sleeps!!!!

It really is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, and with just 10 days or less to go I think I can even start a countdown! Well the spa is in, the carpet is down, painters have been back to do a few touch ups (still more to go), temporary fence taken down, dirt spread around and umm I think that is about it, the only things remaining are the stove and dishwasher to go in (and the stinky port-a-loo to go). Spoke to SS this afternoon on-site who advised they are doing another clean tomorrow and then QA will happen later that day and then PCI on Friday, and then depending on PCI we will have hand over next week (scheduled for Friday) I cheekily asked if there is a possibility of it being sooner, he said it depends on PCI and what we need/want fixed. There really isn't much, most of it is painting, a few of the window sills need sanding and painting, there is a mark on the caesarstone that SS said should buff out, a number of lights need "fixing", the on and off are the wrong way around and you have to turn the hall light on before you can turn the bedroom ones on or it doesn't work lol. but other than that there really isn't anything left to fix :-D So now it is all the other stuff that goes with moving; driveway, electricity connection, house insurance etc. luckily I'm on night shift from Saturday onwards because I don't think I am going to be able to sleep all next week anyway lol

eeeeekkk it feels so real with carpet down!!

The front light on the left is broken/water logged at the bottom, it will be on the PCI list

    1. Thanks so much Lauren, yep very excited indeed!!! It is very similar to the excitement of getting married I think, you spend so long planning it and then even when it's upon you, you still have so much to do! The only thing with weddings is, there is no landscaping afterwards and you get a holiday lol, somehow this is just as satisfying but in a different way. It has been a very long 8 months, but compared to some it's not long and others who are in within 5-6 months it is, exciting all the same!!

  2. Haha I love your analogie of the wedding - so true! Your little lights in the stairs look great - staircases are one thing I love the look of for some odd reason and yours is beautiful. Excitement plus!

  3. Ps its lovely to see everything clean and shiny - I'm having to hold myself back from pulling a mop and bucket out at the house to get it cleaned up!

    1. I don't have your will power :-( whenever I could I cleaned the tiles, my theory is that I didn't pay to upgrade to white grout only to end up with grey grout by the time we move in! And also all the stones and dirt on the tiles leave scratches and although I could ask them to replace them at PCI I would feel a bit petty doing it for a minor scratch but it is those minor scratches that annoy you every time mop the floor....well that was my justification behind it..

  4. Looks great! And I agree with Em - it is so hard not to want to clean up everytime you visit site! I think about 50 tradies have already eaten at my breakfast bar, long before we get too ;)

    1. It is isn't it!! I just want to clean everything!!!!! I know how nice it would look with a clean, I just can't help but itch to do it! I didn't realise until the other day you had a blog, I have been having a read through, but every time I go to comment I am either on my phone and it doesn't work. or I have to dash out the door! I will pop over again soon, it all looks like it is coming along nicely!

    1. Thanks guys, yeah it has felt like forever and our neighbours moved in 3 months ago now so it seems like a long build, but then you guys and Nat have really suffered :-( so I think we ended up somewhere in between which isn't too bad of a result.

  8. It looks fabulous Mel!!! This must be sooooo very exciting for you both. I was SO excited for you to see it fianlised...especially since we are building the same house! It looks better than we had imagine!! I LOVE the glass balustrade!! I am trying to convince my hubby :) The carpet looks great and the ensuite and so does the kitchen. We have gone with similar colours! Have you tried getting the cards into the garage yet? We have been told it will be a little tricky....oh well. I wanted to ask you what kind of tiles you have selected for kitchen and bathrooms?? We are in the process of finalising our choices...
All the best!!! Enjoy, love Thil & Clay (Melbourne)

    1. Congrats on your new home!! We love it and we haven't moved in yet so I'm sure you will too! I am glad our colours seemed to have worked out ok, all bar the balcony balustrade and front, it is a lot trickier than I thought it would be to match things up. The mushroom colour tiles in the wet areas were the Portofino range ceramic which were standard in the Metricon promo at the time but I cannot find them on the net anymore :-( they were everywhere when I was researching them, so maybe they are not stocked anymore, I can't remember the colour off the top of my head, the code was MAXFL and then a number.

I would have to double check, I don't have a soft copy but pretty sure these are our floor tiles to refer to:

      http://www.nationaltiles.com.au/ntstore/productdetails.php?catid=7&itemid=298&skuidx=NT11-505FL COLORADO CREAM GLOSS
      Code: NT11-505FL
      Colour: CREAM
      Body: PORCELAIN
      Use: INTERNAL, FLOOR & WALL
      Dimensions: 450X450

We haven't tried the garage yet as we don't have the driveway in and don't have a 4wd, but I think I will be taking the garage that you drive straight into and Rick can have the one you have to curve around lol! I think a lot will depend on how the driveway is shaped. Good luck with your colour choices!!

  9. Hi just started following your blog recently as interested in Metricon builds as they are a newish builder in SA. Your home looks lovely, really like the carpet and your stair case looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing :)

    1. Thanks Michelle! There are many mixed reports on Metricon, a lot of it comes down to your SS, the other bit is distinguishing what is standard and what is an upgrade! (but that is the same with a lot of builders). Blogs are one of the best ways to get an idea of whether they are the builder for you.
